About the Winemaker

Haigney Family Vineyards is truly a family venture. Dan's love and passion for wine led him to begin taking classes at the The Rudd Center at the Culinary Institute of America in 2004. He's also completed courses at UC Davis and attended conferences such as VinItaly, Southern Breeze Wine Festivals and seminars at The Atlanta Wine School.

His children and wife regularly travel to Napa to help with all aspects of the wine making process. Valued input also comes from the people at Judd's Hill Microcrush, who have become like extended family to the Haigneys.

Judd's Hill helps find and source the best fruit available in the Napa Valley, such as cabernet grapes from the Stag's Leap and Oakville districts and pinot and chardonnay grapes from Carneros.

If you are ever out in Napa feel free to stop by Judd's Hill to taste any of the Haigney wines. Also while you are there feel free to taste some of the great wines made by Art and Judd Hill.

Stags Leap Tasting Note

Ripe red and black cherries marry with the hints of tobacco and mocha for a decadent nose. Secondary aromas of clove, brown sugar and more dark fruit are revealed with a little air. Cassis and black cherry are framed by well-integrated tannins and a mid-palate with substantial weight. Decant for near-term drinking or cellar for 5-15 years.

Oakville Tasting Note

Primary aromas of black cherry, currants, smoke and lavender are followed by secondary aromas of acacia, chocolate and vanilla. The tannins are so well balanced this wine can be consumed today or aged for the
next 10 yrs.
